Pediatric hospitalists in our division ensure that children have excellent care during their hospital stay and a smooth transition back home. Our faculty share their expertise in managing children with complex illnesses with medical students, residents and fellows. Division members also conduct research projects designed to improve the care of hospitalized children.

Training

Our pediatric hospitalists are highly dedicated clinician educators committed to resident and medical student education. Our fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine is a two-year program designed to produce expert clinicians who are trained in studying and optimizing medical care of hospitalized children.

Research

Our faculty are involved in a variety of ongoing research projects focused on clinical outcomes, medical education and quality improvement.  The group participates in multicenter collaborative projects through NACHRI and PRIS networks.

Clinical Services

Division faculty provide direct care to children with a wide range of medical conditions. Our hospitalists provide care at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, as well as at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton.  Our Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care service (IP3)  provides procedural sedation and pain and palliative care consults for hospitalized children.
