Sandrijn M. van Schaik, MD PhD

Sandrijn M. van Schaik, MD PhD is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics with a clinical appointment in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. In addition to her role as Vice-Chair for Education, Sandrijn serves as the Education Director of UCSF’s Simulation Center and is the inaugural Baum Family Presidential Chair for Experiential Learning. Her education research focuses on interprofessional teamwork and simulation. Sandrijn organizes innovative faculty development activities for UCSF’s Center for Faculty Educators, and is involved in efforts to improve clinical learning environments at UCSF and beyond.

Twinkle Patel, MPA

Twinkle Patel, MPA is the Administrative Director of the Pediatric Division of Medical Education. She oversees a team of program managers and coordinators who together support medical student, resident and fellowship education in our department. Twinkle is a member of the UCSF Graduate Medical Education Advisory Group and a mentor for coordinators in the Association of Pediatric Program Directors Western Region. She has received multiple recognitions for her leadership, including the UCSF GME Innovation and Excellence Award and the Boyden Award. Twinkle’s professional interests include program development, career development and staff and trainee wellbeing.
