  1. Specify circumstances when it may be ethically acceptable to abide by a family’s request not to disclose a cancer diagnosis to a child. 
  2. Examine cultural reasons for not disclosing a cancer diagnosis. 
  3. Evaluate the benefits associated with diagnostic and prognostic disclosure to children with cancer. 
  4. Propose an approach based on trust and open lines of communication that respects parental requests for nondisclosure.
