Biography

Dr. Veronika Mesheriakova cares for adolescent and young adult patients, and specializes in the treatment of substance use disorders and addiction in youth. She also specializes in eating disorders, sexual and reproductive health, menstrual disorders, depression, and anxiety. She is the director of the UCSF Youth Outpatient Substance use Program (YoSUP), the UCSF Youth Addiction Management Training Program, and assistant director of the UCSF Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine clinic.

Mesheriakova's research focuses on preventing, diagnosing and treating substance use disorders in youths. She has also conducted research on topics that include contraception use among adolescents, ensuring that all patients get appropriate vaccines and ensuring confidentiality for sexual health services provided to minors.

Mesheriakova earned her medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital followed by a fellowship in adolescent and young adult medicine at UCSF.

Mesheriakova is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, American Society of Addiction Medicine and Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics at UCSF.
