Our Mission

The mission of the UCSF Division of General Pediatrics is to improve the general health of children worldwide and in our communities

  • by providing outstanding clinical care
  • by training the next-generation of pediatricians
  • by discovering better ways to prevent, screen and treat childhood disease and
  • by being an active and engaged member of our community.

Our Goals

  • to be recognized by our families, colleagues and peers, as providing high-quality pediatric primary care for our patients and families.
  • to play a key leadership role in providing the best pediatric primary care educationand training for our medical students, residents, fellows, post-doctoral students and peers.
  • to develop nationally and internationally-recognized research programs in primary care pediatrics, particularly in prevention, screening, continuity of care, best practices for well-child care and the role of family, community, culture and policy in influencing child health.
  • to be recognized and sought after as the leading experts by community, state and national policy-makers regarding matters of general pediatric health and health care
  • to be recognized as the best “well-rounded” division of general pediatrics in the country.
