Why did I choose UCSF Pediatrics Residency?

I chose UCSF because I knew that it would provide me both the training and the opportunities to pursue my career goals. I chose UCSF because I knew that not only would I be surrounded by compassionate, driven people in an intellectually stimulating environment but I would also be practicing work-life balance. My co-workers, mentors, and friends here at UCSF are simply exceptional. San Francisco is also an incredible city I have been able to explore on my time away from the hospital. The Bay Area has so many day and weekend trips that people from across the world come to experience.

What has been the meaningful part of residency training so far?

I am currently an intern at just the beginning of my residency. The most meaningful part of residency so far has been connecting with families and their children in my new role of resident. I am humbled by the opportunity to be let into their lives in such vulnerable moments.

What is my residency project?

I have a few projects I am currently working on. I am on the Diversity Committee as Recruitment Chair and we are heading into the busy interview season now. We also have mentoring projects that are underway. I am also helping with a QI project regarding universal screening for chlamydia in teens at ZSFGH.

What do I think I'll do after residency?

Neonatology residency! I am interested in global health, advocacy, research, and diversity & inclusion. I am excited for what the future holds!
