AWARDS:

~ The Pediatric Asthma and Allergy Clinic received the prestigious 2018 EPA National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management.

~ Anda Kuo received the 2018 Bill Lewandowski Memorial Award from Support for Families, she was a panelist at a conference of the American Medical Women’s Association, and was invited to serve as a mentor for the AAP’s Young Physician’s Leadership Alliance. She gave a presentation on MBTI to the Navy Medical Center

~ Amy Beck received an AME Teaching Award

~ Eddie Cruz received an AME Teaching Award

~ Elena Fuentes-Afflick received the 2018 Rapaport award, appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the NIH’s Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes Program (ECHO), and published a commentary in JAMA Network, “Promoting Inclusion in Academic Medicine”

~ Valerie Gribben won first place in the Medical Economics journals’ physician writing contest, “The one question to get to the heart of a patient’s true concern.”

~ Ellen Laves received the Faculty Teaching Award from the Pediatric Department

FACULTY APPTS/ PROMOTIONS

~ Kevin Clarke (CDC, volunteer faculty) – promoted to Commander in the US Public Health Service

~ Elena has been appointed to a new National Academy of Medicine Consensus Committee on the Underrepresentation of Women in STEM fields.

~ Meg McNamara has been appointed the Department of Pediatrics Residency Program Director.

~ Dr. Andi Marmor is a recipient of the 2019 Academic Senate’s Distinction in Teaching award! We have always recognized Andi for being an exceptional teacher and this prestigious and competitive award demonstrates our campus’ recognition of her educational talents and contributions.
