About Us

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at UCSF strives to give future cardiologists a unique and comprehensive education, to provide exemplary services for the diagnosis and treatment of our patients, and to conduct innovative research. We serve patients and train fellows through our Pediatric Heart Center, an integrated center of excellence that optimizes patient care and fosters the innovation and creativity of faculty and staff from multiple disciplines.

Division Leadership

Shabnam Peyvandi, MD, MAS
Interim Chief of Cardiology

Dr. Peyvandi is a pediatric cardiologist specializing in the fetal diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease. Her research focuses on identifying early fetal and neonatal markers of neurodevelopmental outcomes in children with critical heart defects. She also founded and co-directs the nationally recognized Pediatric Healthy Hearts and Minds Program, which supports the long-term development and quality of life of children born with heart defects.
