The Chair's Desk
We strive to serve the healthcare needs of the children of our region and beyond so that every child can enjoy the best possible health no matter where they live and no matter what their background.
Raphael Hirsch, MD
Chair, UCSF Department of Pediatrics
The UCSF Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest pediatric departments in the United States, with nearly 400 faculty. We strive to serve the healthcare needs of the children of our region and beyond so that every child can enjoy the best possible health no matter where they live and no matter what their background.
We seek to be the leader in research and education to improve child health. To achieve the best health for children, we are working to develop new treatments and cures for childhood illnesses and to make these available to every child.
We are committed to developing the next generation of pediatric leaders. Through our mentorship programs we are investing in the careers of our trainees and young faculty and helping them pursue their passions, whether in education, research, public policy, quality improvement, or health equity.
