About Us
Pediatric hospitalists ensure that children have excellent care during their hospital stay and a smooth transition back home. Our faculty share their expertise in managing children with complex illnesses with medical students, residents and fellows. Division members also conduct research projects designed to improve the care of hospitalized children.

Sunitha Kaiser, MD MSc
Division Chief of Hospital Medicine
Dr. Kaiser has been recognized for her research in quality, safety, and equity in the inpatient pediatric setting. She is also deeply committed to mentoring clinician scientists and was awarded the UCSF FLAG Mentorship Award. She is particularly interested in common respiratory disorders, such as asthma, pneumonia and bronchiolitis. Kaiser's research focuses on improving the speed and effectiveness with which health care providers integrate the latest research findings into practice, particularly for children hospitalized with respiratory illnesses.
