About Us

The Division of Developmental Medicine focuses on understanding the etiology of, assessing, and supporting development and associated processes and outcomes for children locally, nationally, and globally. Our division, headed by Dr. Nicki Bush, provides direct clinical services to children and families; conducts a rich program of research; and contributes to the training and education of medical residents and clinical psychology doctoral students.

Nicole Bush, PhD

Nicole Bush, PhD  
Division Chief of Developmental Medicine 

Dr. Bush is an international leader with clinical and research expertise in child and family developmental health and wellbeing. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with postdoctoral training in biology, medicine, and epidemiology. Dr. Bush leverages her cross-field training and insights from community engagement to innovatively bridge disciplines and advance science, practice, and policy for caregiver and child health. She has received numerous awards for her science and leadership, including the UCSF Chancellor’s Award for the Advancement of Women.  

Susanne Martin

Susanne Martin Herz, MD PhD

Dr. Susanne Martin Herz is an international leader in early childhood neurodevelopment whose work focuses broadly on increasing equity in access to neurodevelopmental evaluation and services.  She is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and additionally completed a PhD in Psychology (child clinical) and a clinical fellowship in Pediatric Bioethics.  Dr. Martin Herz leverages her clinical and scholarly expertise in early childhood development to support health system strengthening in low-resource contexts locally, nationally, and internationally.

Shannon Lundy

Shannon Lundy, PhD
Director of Psychology Services

Shannon Lundy is a licensed clinical psychologist and pediatric neuropsychologist who provides assessment and consultative services to children and adolescents with a variety of medical conditions and neurological disorders. She leads the UCSF Clinical Research Services Neurodevelopmental Assessment Program for pediatric clinical research studies, serves as the Co-Lead for the Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC) Quality of Life and Neurocognitive Working Group, and Co-Chairs the PNOC Long-term/Comprehensive follow-up care protocol.  She also is an active teacher/mentor for both doctoral clinical psychology students through a formal practicum program in the division as well as to junior faculty in both the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry.
