Narrative Medicine Circles

Our goal for these circles is to build in-person connection and well-being through narrative medicine for members of various child-focused departments and divisions affiliated with the Pritzker Building. Many faculty, fellows, and staff, despite sharing a common space, often work in silos and yearn for deep connection. Narrative medicine is a discipline rooted in the arts, humanities, clinical practice, and health care justice that equips clinicians with the skills to recognize and respond to stories of health and illness.

We encourage participants to attend all five sessions if possible and to remain present for the entire hour. Facilitators for our sessions, Dr. Roxanne Almas (Developmental Medicine) and Dr. Anoushka Sinha (Adolescent Medicine), both trained in leading narrative medicine workshops, will utilize narrative medicine tools to hold a safe and grounding space for participants and will support the building of inter-professional and cross-disciplinary connections among participants. Facilitators will guide the participants through poetry, reflective writing, and storytelling. Participation is free of charge, and participants will enjoy a light meal.
