Learning objectives:

• Identify the two types of capillary endothelial cells that comprise the alveolar capillary network. 
• Understand how capillary proliferation and differentiation is balanced during postnatal lung growth. 
• Define how alterations to lung capillary phenotype contribute to the impaired lung structure observed in premature infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
