UCSF Pediatrics Recognized as Leading Training Program

The UCSF Department of Pediatrics has once again been recognized as a leading pediatric training program by U.S. News & World Report, ranking fifth in 2022.

These rankings reflect the excellence and relevance of UCSF pediatric programs at the national level.

Over the last several decades, the UCSF Department of Pediatrics has trained and mentored the next generation of pediatric leaders to ensure that children receive the best care, cures and treatments available.

Recognition by U.S. News of our excellence in pediatric medical education validates the work of our faculty, staff, and trainees whose work will create a healthier and more equitable world for all. Additionally, it provides prospective members with the knowledge that they can excel in our department, too. This honor reflects our continued commitment to the highest standards of education, research and patient care.

For the second year, the rankings included a Diversity Index, and UCSF was among four University of California medical schools to rank in the top 10. Our performance in the diversity ranking underscores our commitment to intentionally increasing our diversity and facilitating an inclusive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing opinions without fear and where truth, justice and kindness are pillars upon which our work rests.

This achievement is a direct reflection of the extraordinary skills of the members of our department who work tirelessly to ensure guidance for our trainees and compassionate care for our patients.
