Learning Objectives:
- Understand the basis for SCID in Artemis deficiency and the reason for the increased incidence in Athabascan-Speaking Native Americans
- Appreciate the rationale for autologous gene insertion therapy for ART-SCID
- Understand the importance of sensitivity to cultural differences when enrolling patients into clinical trials
- Understand the rationale for newborn screening assay for SCID and importance of early diagnosis and definitive treatment for optimal outcome.
